A meeting was held on the 3rd of September where the decision was taken to cancel the remaining planned pulls for the
remainder of the 2009 season, this is following the release of the fatal inqury findings of the accident
involving Jan Van Alphen and Popeye in August 2007. The summary and
full reports can be viewed via the links. The Eliminator Sledge now
requires further modifications before being used at any tractor pull in the UK as per the summary of the findings.

A meeting was held on the 30th of July where the decision was taken to postpone the Inverness Pull to the 13th of September
TBC. With pulling at New Deer on the 16th and a BTPA round at Great Eccleston the weekend of the 29th & 30th August the majority
of pullers felt that they could not commit to three weekends in a row but also did want to not have the event this year. When
it has been confirmed with the event organiser we will post further details.

On Sunday the 1st of March there was gathering of tractor pullers at Craigforthie Farm by Inverurie for the annual clutch
inspections. In total nine clutches were inspected from the Superfarm to Modifed classes. The STPC Scrutineers were joined
by one of the BTPA scrutineers to allow the tractors to compete south of the border throughout the year. With still a number
of clutches to be inspected but tractor drivers not being able to make the date. The 2009 season should see a good turn out of
tractors in all classes.

The sledge was also inspected during the day and discussion was held on planned modifictions that are to be made to the sledge

2009 sees a change in the schedule of the Scottish tractor pulling events, with no pulling to be held at the Keith Show the
season finals are to be held at the showground in September. This will be a two day event over the 26th & 27th and it is
planned to encompass anything which has an engine i.e. Trucks, Muscle cars, Motorbikes to name a few.
This leaves a gap in the season between New Deer Show and the finals to be filled and it is the aim of the club to put an event on
close to Inverness. The club had also hoped to hold an event in conjunction with the annual working day at
BA Stores however the plans for this event are too advanced to allow a pull this year but all being well next year
will see pulling at the working day on a purpose built track.
No news has broken on any new pullers being built or if any have been sold over the winter, however it looks like Red Tornado
will return to the superstock class this year for the fist time since 2005. There will undoubtedly be spanners in action over
the winter months to try and improve on last year’s performance for those returning for the 2009 season.
We look forward to an exciting and close pulling throughout 2009
